DUCK & CRUTCH

A self-taught distiller, a talented designer and a spotty dog with tiny legs were the crack team behind ‘Duck and Crutch’, the shed-based Kensington gin distillery, where things are done the proper way.

An obsessive interest in drinks (mainly the consumption of) and a desire to own a business led Hollie and George to begin distilling gin in their garden shed and a 5l test still was purchased. In January 2018, after a year of test distillations, product design, licensing, reading and arguing… Duck and Crutch Kensington dry gin was officially born.

The result is distinctively balanced, smooth juniper-led gin, with a gently spiced warmth on the palate and a Darjeeling tea finish. Their creations at Hackney Coffee Co. where a huge hit - particularly the epic blood orange G&T.

HG WALTER

Independent, family-run butcher HG Walter have dedicated years to perfecting traditional methods of meat preparation. Based in West London, they source all their meat from small, passionate British farmers who use traditional, free-range farming methods ensuring both quality and a unique and diverse range of breeds.

We share their passion for using the highest quality meat and wanted to celebrate their craft with a dedicated event using solely their produce. We set about creating a nose-to-tail tasting menu involving some 10 courses to showcase the versatility and avour of their pork. They sourced us everything from Salamancan suckling pig, to Welsh-bred Mangalitza and even fresh blood for homemade black pudding.

KOFFMANN’S POTATOES

We first met with the culinary legend Pierre Koffmann when he attended Roasted at Hackney Coffee Co. He has since provided us with fantastic, versatile potatoes which our chefs love to work with.

In conjunction with Linwood Crops, they select the right varieties at the right time to deliver a consistent chef-quality taste experience. They test their crops and constantly cook them to enable an all-round flavour that works.

This passionate partnership and the desire to understand the husbandry, storage, handling and cooking of crops from field to fork offers Roasted and our guests consumer, the best possible eating experience and a consistent product time after time.
